The accuracy with which a tribrach returns to its starting position once the instrument has stopped, is called torsional rigidity or hysteresis. This hysteresis is the relative movement between the top plate and the base plate of a tribrach that occurs through the rotation of a TPS instrument. The hysteresis has direct influence on the angular accuracy of the instrument – and that speaks for the original. To optimise the hysteresis as Leica Geosystems has done is complex and calls for the highest precision: a movement of the upper plate to the lower plate of 0.3μm corresponds to an angle error of 1”. Especially motorised instruments with their high acceleration and brake power require tribrachs with very high torsional rigidity.

Leica Tribrach without Optical Plummet

The Leica Professional 5000 Series Tribrach is a rugged tribrach designed to ensure that surveying instruments such as total stations, theodolites, and GNSS antenna are securely and accurately attached to a tripod. The perfect alignment of the support area and base plate allows precise forced centering while the maintenance-free foot screws guarantee smooth movements at all times.

Offering a maximum torsional stiffness of one inch (0.3?mgon), this attachment plate by Leica is recommended for all high angular accuracy tasks that require angle measurements of under three inches. It is also suitable for all motorized equipment with its minimal hysteresis. Ideal for heavy-duty applications, it maintains excellent performance even in extreme environmental conditions.

The Leica Professional 5000 Series Tribrach is available with an optional optical plummet to enable easy and quick alignment. It has a robust body that eliminates the need for adjustment throughout the tribrach’s life span. It has an overall weight of 1.72 pounds or 1.90 pounds and comes in Green color.
