AxSEAM Scanner – Weld Inspection Scanner
The AxSEAM Scanner is a semi-automated, dual-axis weld inspection scanner purpose-built for long seam and axial weld evaluations in pipes and pressure vessels. Designed for use with advanced ultrasonic testing techniques such as Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) and Time-of-Flight Diffraction (TOFD), the AxSEAM enhances detection of weld flaws while simplifying setup and minimizing operator fatigue. Its IP65-rated rugged design, magnetic wheels, and modular configuration make it an ideal solution for challenging environments in oil & gas, power, and fabrication sectors.
Key Features of AxSEAM Scanner
Dual-Axis Scanning: Enables both axial (longitudinal) and circumferential scanning—manual or semi-automated—for full weld coverage.
ScanDeck™ Module: In-line control panel lets operators monitor speed, coupling, and encoder status directly—without returning to the instrument.
Adjustable Probe Holders: Tool-free holders accommodate up to 4 PAUT or TOFD probes and allow vertical latching and pressure control for optimized coupling.
Magnetic Dome-Shaped Wheels: Patented wheel system adapts to pipe diameters without adjustments; includes brake system for stable positioning.
Quick Configuration Switching: Easily transition between long seam and girth weld inspections with minimal adjustment, improving productivity.
Rugged & Waterproof Build: Built with IP65-rated components to withstand harsh field conditions.
Cable Management System: Integrated sleeve keeps probe and encoder cables organized and protected during scanning.
Applications of AxSEAM Scanner
Long Seam Weld Inspection: Designed for efficient and encoded inspection of longitudinal welds in pipelines, storage tanks, and ERW pipes.
Axial Weld Testing: Ensures precise scanning along pipe lengths for thorough weld integrity analysis.
Corrosion & Erosion Mapping: With compatible PAUT probes, enables surface profiling to detect thinning and surface degradation.
Circumferential Weld Scanning: Supports girth weld inspections on pipes as small as 114 mm (4.5 in.) OD using 2 probes, or larger diameters (254 mm / 10 in. and up) with 4 probes.
Defect Detection: Identifies weld flaws including lack of fusion, slag inclusions, cracks, porosity, and vertical hook cracks common in ERW seams.
