PARAS – Parallel Seismic Tester

Sub-Structure Depth & Integrity Testing System

The PARAS (Parallel Seismic Tester) is a specialist non-destructive testing system used to determine the depth and integrity of concrete, masonry, or steel foundations, particularly where direct access is restricted or conventional methods fall short. This method is ideal for inaccessible piles, sheet piles, or substructures that require indirect assessment.

Using a hydrophone lowered into a water-filled access tube installed parallel to the foundation, PARAS records seismic signals generated by surface hammer impacts. Changes in signal arrival time allow engineers to determine foundation depth with precision. The rugged, portable unit is designed for harsh site environments and includes user-friendly software for rapid data analysis and reporting.

Key Features of PARAS – Parallel Seismic Tester

Non-Destructive Testing: No excavation or cutting required – ideal for inaccessible or buried foundations.

Portable & Rugged Design: Lightweight, waterproof unit housed in a hard-wearing case; built for field use.

High Accuracy: Detects changes in signal velocity to pinpoint transition from concrete to soil, indicating foundation depth.

Fast Analysis: Automatic intersection point detection between concrete and soil wave speeds.

Two-Channel Spectrum Analyzer: Allows real-time comparison of impact and hydrophone data.

Daylight-Readable Display: Monochrome backlit LCD with anti-reflective screen for outdoor visibility.

Data Storage: Holds over 700 test records with full metadata including pile ID, operator, timestamp, and test location.

Integrated Software: Includes advanced filtering, FAT tracking, and velocity cursor analysis for accurate reporting.

Long Battery Life: 8+ hours on full charge, with multiple charging options.

Fully Compliant: Meets standards including NFP94-160-3.

Training & Support: Full user training available (in-person or virtual), including overseas support.

Applications of Parallel Seismic Test

Foundation Integrity Testing: Assesses the depth and condition of concrete, masonry, or steel piles.

Civil & Structural Engineering: Suitable for bridges, high-rise buildings, sheet piles, retaining walls.

Post-Construction Audits: Ideal for retroactive depth verification on as-built foundations.

Geotechnical & Site Investigations: Used when borehole testing or excavation is impractical.

Combined Testing Systems: Can be integrated with TDR2 pile testing equipment for comprehensive diagnostics.
